Days like today remind me how much I love studying. I'm working on a paper for my Psalms class; and as I read, I notice little things that point to more things I don't yet know. I get excited about following this new rabbit trail towards learning more about the history of the development of the Old Testament.
I also love that I'm learning how to sing the Psalms, either chanting or as through-composed pieces. There are so many beautiful settings of each individual Psalm. I'm really looking forward to taking a full class on chanting by the time I finish my degree.
Early this February, my class created a worship service based around the Psalms. I wasn't able to attend, but there is a video of it. It was to exciting to me that they were able to give the Psalms their due as beautiful pieces of poetry.
I love being in this community where we worship together early and often. ^_^

Always on the journey
So much life has happened since the last time I put a journal on here. I did the yoga teacher training I mentioned last time. I moved back to Boston. I continued my yoga journey with more trainings. I started teaching yoga. I teach Sunday School and work as a children's minister. I continue my theological education and I hope to graduate with an S.T.M. this Spring. I'm interviewing for a chaplain residency this week. Life happened. And I didn't expect it. I think the one big thing I have learned recently is that life happens, and we don't always expect it to. My life these last few years has been following Jesus wherever he leads, and he continues to take me to places I didn't expect. He calls me to serve him by serving others. And that continues to be the best journey. I wouldn't take nothing for my journey now. If you've made it this far, I'd invite you to listen to this video. It's the story of my life, and you might enjoy it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xS6w2DOc310
Wipe out!
Whew.
This semester cleaned my clock. I'm still working on papers from it. I think I put too much of myself into my work at the coffee shop and didn't have enough left to put myself into my studies.
So I'm shifting things around this semester. I've already decreased the amount of time I'm working, and I'm figuring out what I'll do with school. One of my classes was canceled, so I'm replacing it. I'm trying to figure out whether I want to add one more class.
One exciting thing I'm looking to do this semester is a yoga teacher training. There's an awesome studio on the north side that teaches yoga for all kinds of bodies. I really want to le
Chicago!
Hey all, I wanted to post a quick update!
I moved to Chicago this summer and am working on my Master of Sacred Theology half time, studying theology and worship. I'm working full time and living at the Lutheran school, right across from the University of Chicago. Life has cleaned my clock this semester, and I'm struggling to keep up.
I've discovered a great opportunity I'll be applying for soon. It's a two-year residency at a church, and it seems like it would be a wonderful way to minister while finishing up ordination requirements. Stay tuned!
It's Christmas time and the tree is up here in Chicago. We've not had much snow, but there was
Updates
So much has happened in the past few months. I've moved up to school and I had June classes. My little brother got married. I'm on chapel staff at school and this fall I'm taking over a full load of classes. I've got an internship at a church and I'm seeing a biologist back at UNC. I'm enjoying the weather and the beach up in Boston while also trying to get sooo much work done. *And* the dean asked me to be his research assistant on a project. Whew!
With everything changing, its good to know some things never change. I have the best friends and family in the world, even we we haven't hung out in a while. And I'm always playing music and drin
